We accept patient referrals from your regular dentist using our referral form which your dentist can download from the dentist page

ORAL SURGERY/EXTRACTIONS (with or without sedation)

If you are a non patient of ours and you require oral surgery with or without sedation and you have a current general dentist, please ask them to refer you via our dentist referral form available of the dentist page.

If you do not have a current general dentist then please contact us on 01953 603360 to book a consultation direct, our oral surgeon will then discuss your surgery requirements with you. A standard fee is payable.

Please note that only the oral surgery treatment will be carried out, you will need to find a general dentist for your continued dental care as only the agreed surgery will be treated at Peppermint.

We target 2-3 days for a consultation with treatments being booked between 1 and 2 weeks but at busy times it can take longer to arrange.

Of course there will be periods where we cannot mutually agree an appointment within this timescale and therefore we will treat you as soon as we can.

We are a wholly private dental Practice and charges apply, unfortunately we do not provide NHS dental treatments. A full breakdown of charges will be provided to you.

We take referrals for many oral surgery procedures including:

  • Dental Implants

  • Dental Extractions including for orthodontic treatments

  • Wisdom Tooth Extraction

  • Apicectomy

  • Exposure of Unerupted Teeth

  • Minor Soft Tissue Surgery including Frenectomy

A consultation is arranged which provides an opportunity for us to meet you and perhaps more importantly, for you to meet us. We will discuss the required treatment, your dental history, the problem you are experiencing and any other concerns. We will examine the area in question and if appropriate take the necessary x-rays. Your dentist, if you have been referred, may have forwarded x-rays with your referral but in some cases these will unfortunately, not give us the full details and clarity we need. We will explain the treatment, why it is needed and the procedure including instructions on how to prepare for your treatment and equally, how to look after yourself following treatment.

The fee for the consultation starts at £100.00 in addition x-ray charges will be applied at our standard rate if they are needed.

Your oral surgeon will make the decision as to the best course of treatment and in some cases, we may not be able to treat you here at Peppermint.

Sedation assessment:

If you have been referred for your treatment with sedation, we will see you to assess your suitability, explain the treatment and options for sedation before proceeding with the treatment appointment. This is included in the consultation fee above. Some patients are not suitable for sedation, your oral surgeon will advise.

We provide sedation in two ways:

Intravenous: This is an injection into either the crook of your arm or back of your hand. We use Midazolam as our sedative and with intravenous, you will find you drift away but remain conscious. It is not like a general anaesthetic.

Under sedation, you are still responsive and most people can continue to communicate in some fashion during the procedure – when we talk to you, you will respond albeit sometimes a bit slurred. It’s a little bit like having too much alcohol but without the hangover. It effects patients in many different ways, some people giggle their way through, some sleep quite soundly, some can become quite emotional and others just remain quiet. However you react, you will be treated with respect, in a professional manner and your actions will remain in confidence. Intravenous Sedation is not suitable for younger children

Inhalational: Essentially this is like gas and air, similar to what people have used when giving birth. This requires good patient cooperation as you have to be able to breathe steadily via the mask in order for it to relax you suitably so you can deal with the treatment procedure. We will talk to you and encourage you throughout. This sedation is predominantly used for children however, in cases where intravenous is not suitable, we may offer this as an alternative. The masks come in various colours and smells, strawberry and bubble-gum to name a few.

Implant Consultation:

We provide consultations for dental implants. Your dentist will need to refer you. They are able to provide relevant history and can confirm initially that you may be a candidate for dental implants

The implant consultation consists of a dental examination, including the soft tissues and glands in your neck, x-rays and impressions for study models. The x-ray taken is an panoral x-ray which is where the picture is taken from outside of your mouth and the image shows your full dentition, dental nerves, muscles and joints. The study models are necessary to aid planning of the implant placement and will be kept as a record of pre-treatment.

Following your consultation, your surgeon will assess all information gained and formulate a treatment plan. This will involve the laboratory technician who will provide the tooth part of the implant and liaising with the implant manufactures as is necessary. The treatment plan will be sent to you with the relative fees to enable you to make a fully informed decision on how to proceed.

The fee for the implant consultation is £250.00

Dental Implants start at £2,549.00 because every individual case is different, you will be quoted individually.
